Architectural Staff I (NonLicensed)
Location: Los Angeles, United States
This role is with a mid-sized US architectural practice that specialises in large-scale hospitality and commercial projects, including resorts, hotels, and mixed-use developments across multiple states. The practice combines architecture and interior design in-house and is known for long-standing relationships with international operators and owners.
Overview
Architectural Staff I is an early-career position supporting the delivery of hospitality, commercial, and institutional projects from design through documentation. This role suits a detail-focused designer with several years of professional experience who wants to grow within a collaborative, mentoring project team environment and progress toward greater design and technical responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project teams with design, space planning, and technical drawings for small and moderately complex projects.
- Produce plans, elevations, sections, details, and diagrams; assist with design, planning and occupancy studies, and limited layout development.
- Revise drawings accurately in response to redlines, maintaining a very low rate of errors and returning fully coordinated updates.
- Coordinate with internal team members and respond constructively to technical and design guidance from senior staff.
- Contribute to document packages that align with applicable building, accessibility, life-safety, and health codes under supervision.
- Assist with the coordination of consultant information into architectural drawings and perform basic quality checks on your own work.
- Participate in project meetings, take clear notes, and follow through on assigned action items.
Skills and Experience
- Typically 3+ years of professional architectural experience; hospitality, commercial, or mixed-use project exposure is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong competence in production of construction documents; familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud (or similar) is expected.
- Working familiarity with the International Building Code, accessibility standards (such as ADA), and relevant local codes, or a strong willingness and aptitude to learn quickly.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and commitment to delivering coordinated drawing packages with minimal errors and timely revisions.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work within multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Professional degree in Architecture or a closely related field required; licensure not required, but an interest in pursuing licensure is a plus.
What Our Client Offers
- Opportunity to work on high-profile hospitality and commercial projects with international operators and brands.
- A supportive environment with direct mentorship from experienced architects and project managers.
- Clear pathways for professional growth, including increased project responsibility and support toward licensure.
