FF&E Designer
Luxury Hospitality Design | London
Candidates must already have the legal right to reside and work in the UK and be able to work in London. No visa sponsorship is available. Previous FF&E design experience on hotel and/or resort projects is essential.
About the studio
Our client is an internationally established design practice creating luxury hotels, resorts and destination-led hospitality interiors around the world. Its work combines compelling storytelling with a sophisticated understanding of space, materials and the guest experience.
Rather than applying a signature look to every project, the studio draws inspiration from the culture, character and landscape of each location. The result is a portfolio of distinctive environments that balance international luxury with a genuine sense of place.
The practice is now building its London studio, offering the opportunity to join an ambitious team at an early stage, supported by the expertise and reach of an established global design business.
The opportunity
We are seeking a creative and detail-focused FF&E Designer with experience developing furniture, finishes, fabrics and decorative lighting schemes for hotels and resorts.
Working closely with the interior design team, you will help translate project narratives into cohesive FF&E schemes, combining a refined aesthetic with practical consideration of comfort, durability, budget and the guest experience.
This role will suit someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of FF&E design, from sourcing distinctive pieces and developing bespoke furniture to preparing clear specifications and reviewing samples.
Key responsibilities
- Develop FF&E concepts and schemes for luxury hotel and resort projects, including guest rooms, suites, public areas, restaurants, bars and wellness spaces.
- Research and source furniture, fabrics, finishes, decorative lighting, rugs and accessories that support the project's design direction.
- Create mood boards, material palettes and FF&E presentations.
- Develop bespoke furniture proposals, communicating design intent through sketches, reference imagery and coordination with the wider design team.
- Prepare and maintain detailed FF&E specifications, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain product information, samples, quotations and lead times.
- Assess selections against project requirements, including suitability for hospitality use, durability, maintenance and budget.
- Review supplier drawings, finish samples and prototypes with senior designers to help maintain design quality.
- Coordinate FF&E selections with interior layouts, architectural finishes and other design elements.
- Track revisions, organise the sample library and maintain accurate project records.
- Support the team in resolving supplier queries and identifying suitable alternatives without losing the design intent.
About you
- Previous experience in an FF&E design role working on hotel and/or resort projects is essential.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating hospitality FF&E schemes, material selection and your individual contribution.
- A refined eye for furniture, textiles, colour, proportion and detail.
- Experience sourcing products and developing coordinated FF&E packages.
- An understanding of bespoke furniture development and the ability to communicate ideas clearly to suppliers and manufacturers.
- Experience preparing accurate specifications and schedules.
- Awareness of the practical requirements of hospitality interiors, including durability, maintenance and operational use.
- Confidence using Adobe Creative Suite and relevant specification, presentation and spreadsheet tools.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage samples, specifications and deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and confidence communicating with designers, suppliers and project stakeholders.
- A relevant qualification in interior design, furniture design, textiles or a related discipline.
- Existing permission to live and work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
Why join?
- Help shape a growing London studio within an established international design practice.
- Contribute to luxury hotel and resort projects across international markets.
- Work closely with experienced designers and specialist suppliers.
- Develop distinctive FF&E schemes with scope for bespoke design and thoughtful material exploration.
- Join a team where your ideas, attention to detail and contribution can make a meaningful difference.
How to apply
Please submit your CV and a curated portfolio through Portico Recruitment. Your portfolio should include hotel and/or resort projects and clearly demonstrate your FF&E design experience, specifications, material palettes and individual responsibilities.
