Lead Interior Designer
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Sector: Luxury Hospitality Interior Design
Reporting to: Design Director / Studio Management
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and highly creative Lead Interior Designer to join an international hospitality design studio in Bangkok.
This is a senior design-led position for an individual with a strong portfolio of luxury hotel, resort and high-end hospitality projects. You will lead the creative development and delivery of projects from early concept and spatial planning through design development, consultant coordination, presentation and documentation stages.
Working closely with Design Directors, Studio Management and multidisciplinary teams across an international network, you will take ownership of multiple projects while providing clear creative direction, maintaining exceptional design quality and building strong relationships with clients, operators, consultants and suppliers.
The role offers the opportunity to shape distinctive, experience-led hospitality environments across urban hotels, resorts, villas, spas, F&B venues and branded residential developments internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the interior design process on luxury hospitality projects from concept through to design development and delivery.
- Take ownership of project design direction, ensuring each concept is creative, commercially appropriate, operationally considered and aligned with the client brief, brand requirements and project location.
- Develop compelling design narratives, mood boards, material palettes, furniture and lighting concepts, space-planning strategies and presentation packages.
- Oversee and contribute directly to concept design, schematic design, detailed design development and technical coordination, maintaining continuity of the original design vision throughout.
- Lead and mentor project teams, providing day-to-day guidance, feedback and support to designers at varying levels of experience.
- Manage the allocation of design resources across projects, helping to maintain productivity, quality and timely delivery against agreed programmes.
- Work closely with Design Directors and Studio Management to plan project deliverables, manage workloads and identify potential risks, delays or resourcing requirements early.
- Coordinate effectively with architects, operators, project managers, MEP engineers, lighting designers, landscape consultants, specialist consultants, contractors and suppliers.
- Attend and contribute to client meetings, design workshops, operator reviews and project presentations, communicating design intent clearly and confidently.
- Build trusted relationships with clients and partners, acting as a senior point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review design packages, drawings, schedules, specifications and presentation material to ensure they meet the studio's design, technical and graphic standards.
- Maintain strong quality control across all project outputs, ensuring design proposals are coordinated, practical, buildable and consistent with the approved concept.
- Support the selection and development of FF&E, finishes, materials, bespoke joinery and decorative elements, with a strong awareness of quality, durability, sustainability, lead times and budget considerations.
- Work across several concurrent projects, both locally and internationally, while maintaining close attention to detail and meeting key milestones.
- Contribute to the continued development of the studio's hospitality design capability, creative culture, client relationships and overall market profile.
Candidate Profile
- Significant professional experience in luxury hospitality interior design, ideally including high-end hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, villas and/or branded residential projects.
- Proven experience leading interior design projects and managing design teams through multiple project stages.
- A strong, highly polished portfolio that demonstrates original concept development, sophisticated spatial planning, materiality, storytelling and completed luxury hospitality environments.
- Strong understanding of hotel design requirements, including guestroom and suite planning, public areas, lobby and arrival experience, restaurants and bars, spas, wellness, back-of-house areas and operator standards.
- Experience working with international hotel operators, owners, developers and multidisciplinary consultant teams would be advantageous.
- Excellent creative and conceptual ability, alongside the technical awareness required to translate design ideas into coordinated and deliverable solutions.
- Confident in client-facing situations, with the ability to present ideas persuasively and build credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrable people-leadership capability, with a collaborative and supportive approach to mentoring and developing design talent.
- Highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing several project deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in relevant interior design and presentation software, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. Experience with Revit or other BIM platforms would be beneficial.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills are essential. Additional Asian language capability would be an advantage.
