This role profile is for a senior-level consultancy (Full-time freelance) position; the successful candidate will contract directly with the client and invoice monthly, with no PAYE option available.
Position overview
A leading, awardwinning international hospitality design studio is seeking a Senior Interior Designer & Project Manager to play a key role in launching its new London studio. The role combines handson conceptual design with full project leadership across high-end hotel and resort projects in the UK, Europe and internationally.
Contract type and eligibility
- Consultancy contract (Ltd company or registered sole trader) with the ability to invoice monthly; this is not an employed/PAYE position.
- London-based, with flexibility to travel for project and site meetings as required.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of luxury hotel and resort projects from concept, mood boards and space planning through to construction documentation and site coordination.
- Manage projects day to day, including programming, fees, resourcing and coordination between interiors, architecture, FF&E suppliers and external consultants.
- Direct and mentor midweight and junior designers, ensuring output meets the studio's design standards and hospitality brand requirements.
- Develop and present design concepts and client presentations, acting as a key point of contact for owners, operators and project managers.
- Oversee detailed drawing packages, specifications and schedules (including finishes, joinery, lighting and FF&E) in collaboration with the wider team.
- Attend site meetings, carry out design reviews and support installation to ensure the built result reflects the approved design intent.
Experience and skills
- 8-12+ years' experience in interior design, with a strong track record delivering luxury hotel and resort projects for international brands.
- Proven experience running projects as both lead designer and project manager, including budgets, timelines and client communication.
- Confident in all project stages: concept, schematic, detailed design, tender, construction and handover.
- Strong proficiency in relevant design and documentation software (e.g. AutoCAD/Revit or similar, plus Adobe Creative Suite and 3D tools).
- Excellent client-facing, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to represent a high-profile design studio in meetings and workshops.
- Highly organised, self-directed and comfortable working within a consultancy arrangement, including managing own time and monthly invoicing.
