Junior FF&E Designer Job Description
Assisted by the team, the Junior FF&E Designer is responsible for helping to deliver all aspects of projects from concept to completion. The role will be varied and require work on multiple projects. A passion for and knowledge of interior architecture and design, furniture and product design is essential. Good verbal and written abilities are required for the position as it involves communicating with suppliers and other project team consultants; however, they will be supported in this task by the wider design team.
Responsibilities
- Alongside the Directors, Associates, and Project Leads, develop the creative vision for the project.
- Help in design research for projects, particularly during concept development. The task includes activities ranging from finding mood images for a particular design approach to establishing information about the specific site.
- Develop the materiality for projects by assisting with research, ordering samples, supplier meetings, and showroom visits.
- Assist the team with the production of concept information such as presentation documents and material boards.
- Assist the team in furniture and fabric research and selections.
- Drawing up FF&E specification and production documentation.
- Assist the Office Co-ordinator/Receptionist with administrative tasks as required.
- Assist the Studio Librarian with the upkeep of the library and administrative tasks such as organising supplier meetings or Lunch and Learn sessions.
Skills
- Good (or developing) knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp is advantageous.
- Strong free-hand sketching skills.
