Senior Technical Coordinator

Position Summary:

• As a Senior Technical Coordinator in an Interior Design Studio, your role involves overseeing the technical aspects of interior design projects, project management, and managing a team of technical coordinators.
• A fully qualified individual who can own, run, and coordinate technical drawing packages on multiple projects independently with minimal supervision.
• This individual possesses technical skills, team management, and communication skills, allowing them to make a valuable contribution to every project they work on.

Essential Functions:

Project Management:

Oversee all technical and coordination aspects of multiple projects in accordance with the client's budget, and communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors as required.

Team Management:

Manage and mentor a team of technical coordinators/technical designers, ensuring that everyone is meeting their deadlines and delivering high-quality work.

Technical Design:

a) Review and approve technical drawings created by the team and coordinate closely with the Interior Designer.

b) Ability to recognise and highlight technical problems and provide solutions at an early stage.

c) Be knowledgeable and experienced with standard and acceptable ID drawing scales, and only produce adequate drawing detail that can be visible within the required scale once the drawing is printed out full size.

d) Produce technically functional and buildable drawing details.

Codes and Regulations:

Stay up-to-date with building codes and regulations, and ensure that all designs are compliant.

Specifications and Materials:

Coordinate with the Interior Designer's specified materials, products, and finishes for projects, recommending factors such as durability, technical functionality, sustainability, and cost.

Coordination with Other Professionals:

Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors as required to complete the technical design of projects.

Quality Assurance:

a) Ensure that all work meets our client's quality standards and client expectations.

b) Be proactive and suggest improvements or amendments required to the ID QA systems and standards.

Budget Management:

Work to the client-approved budget, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Technical Problem Solving:

Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the design or construction process and propose solutions that meet project requirements.

Client Communication:

Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding technical aspects of the project, including providing updates on progress, answering questions, and addressing concerns.

Outsource Management

a) Manage the Revit/CAD outsource company, programme objectives, and answer all outsource queries in a clear format.

b) Comment on outsource drawings in a clear and efficient format using Blue Beam Revu software.

Background & Skills:

• Education:Diploma or Degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Experience:Minimum 10 years+ post-qualification working in Interior Design and Interior Architecture.
• Software Skills:Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, Blue Beam Revu.
• Language:Fluent in written and spoken English.
